Well, in my last post, I was talking about choices. Choice of work in particular. Here, its more of a conscious biological selection of choice that does not exactly groom us to someone we want to represent, but at at some level, this choice helps us with identifying ourselves......, sexually.
Yes, being gay or lesbian is of course something that we choose to be, but not because of situations and circumstances. It may be because of a dominance of certain likes and dislikes. But further to it, our choice of sexuality is grounded by biological and NATURAL reasoning.
In my view, it is atrocious that the Supreme Court has deemed homosexuality criminal and unnatural. In fact, is it even unnatural!? Either ways, if it is unnatural and 'criminalizable', then they should criminalize any form of robotics and computation, for they are not natural!
Just because something is uncommon or unacceptable for the ignorant and narrow minded, that cannot be justified for victimising those who are swayed from common occurrences.
As an individual, would we move away from someone just because the other does not share our likes and dislikes? No reasonable or 'rational' person would do that. We try to find a common ground and start respecting the other for what they are, give them their space or share each other’s spaces. In the same degree, we have to respect LGBTs for what they are, and learn to accept their identity. They know and experience some things that we don’t. There are not many to guide them and help them when they struggle. Many a times, not even their parents. I have once heard that sometimes, the least support we could do is listen to those in need. But we don't seem to provide them even with that minimal support.
The funny part is, we people readily befriend animals of every breed. But we cannot stand our own selves, if I may put it in a way, who are of different breed than that we most commonly belong to. For a fact, if you research into history, homosexuality is not a recent outset. It has been there since 14 / 16th century, even from among the royal families.
This Supreme Court decision is a classic example for the need to have proof and scientific reasoning behind every decision made and action followed. If one such reasoning is unavailable then we ought to take time and start researching on it. Seek solutions. If we can come up with solid scientific proofs and reasonings, then there is nothing more revolutionizing than that. But if for the time being we are unable to, due to deficiency in technology or knowledge, then thats ok of us to stand by our reasonings based on what we have deciphered till now. But it is unacceptable to be judgemental based on some blind un-researched beliefs for it is mere fallacy, and a fallacious justice is highly biased and unfair!
It is high time we start accepting homosexuals & transgenders for what they are. We have so much to learn from them on certain aspects of our being that we are not capable of experiencing. Our communication towards acceptance and befriending can start from trying to learn them, about them. It like a relationship, where we start with similarities, acknowledge the differences and learn to accept them. Except that, in this context we would mostly be starting with differences, acknowledge them, bridge with similarities, share the commonalities and thereby learn to accept them.
It is.....as simple as it is ;)
